- zbiralo bo sredstva za raziskave avtizma, za spodbujanje aktivnosti na področju krepitve in ohranjevanja psihofizičnega zdravja oseb z avtizmom in njihovih družin ter za izvajanje preventive dejavnosti

- izvajalo bo programe pomoči, s katerimi bi izboljšali možnosti vključevanja v okolje in spodbujali socializacijo oseb z avtizmom

- sledilo bo napredku znanosti na tem področju v tujini in v sodelovanju s pristojnimi državnimi organi poskušalo zagotoviti čimprejšnjo implementacijo v slovensko zakonodajo in prakso

- zaradi posebnih potreb na področju športa, kulture, izobraževanja, sociale in raznih interesnih dejavnosti so osebe z avtizmom pogosto zapostavljene, saj ne morejo koristiti obstoječih možnosti, zato bo društvo poskušalo zagotoviti sredstva za ustreznejše programe, s katerimi bi omogočili vključevanje oseb z avtizmom in njihovih družin tudi v tovrstne aktivnosti

- organiziralo bo posvete, seminarje, okrogle mize, tiskovne konference, delavnice, izdajalo publikacije in tudi na druge načine informiralo članstvo in zainteresirano javnost o napredkih stroke na tem področju

- zavzemalo se bo za človekove pravice oseb z avtizmom in njihovih družin in z nasveti ustreznih strokovnjakov poskušalo pomagati pri problemih, ki se pojavljajo v vsakdanjem življenju

- ne glede na neprofitnost društva lahko društvo izvaja tudi pridobitno dejavnost v smislu krepitve svoje materialne osnove za svojo osnovno dejavnost v okviru predpisov, ki urejajo delovanje društev

Washington, FDA - 4. 6. 2008 (Reuters): Silver-colored metal dental fillings contain mercury that may cause health problems in pregnant women, children and fetuses, the Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday after settling a related lawsuit.

"Dental amalgams contain mercury, which may have neurotoxic effects on the nervous systems of developing children and fetuses," the FDA said in a notice on its Web site. "Pregnant women and persons who may have a health condition that makes them more sensitive to mercury exposure, including individuals with existing high levels of mercury bioburden, should not avoid seeking dental care, but should discuss options with their health practitioner," the agency said. While the FDA previously said various studies showed no harm from mercury fillings, some consumer groups contend the fillings can trigger a range of health problems such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. In 2006, an FDA advisory panel of outside experts said most people would not be harmed by them, but said the agency needed more information.

The cream, promoted to nursing mothers to help soothe dry or cracked nipples, contains ingredients that may cause respiratory distress, vomiting and diarrhea in infants, the agency said.The potentially harmful ingredients in the cream are chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol.
"FDA is particularly concerned that nursing infants are being unwittingly exposed by their mothers to this product with dangerous side effects," said Janet Woodcock, director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. "Additionally, these two ingredients may interact with one another to further compound and increase the risk of respiratory depression in nursing infants."

Like the link between aspirin and heart attack, even a small effect can have major health implications. If there is any link between autism and mercury, it is absolutely crucial that the first reports of the question are not falsely stating that no link occurs. We have reanalyzed the data set originally reported by Ip et al. in 2004 and have found that the original p value was in error and that a significant relation does exist between the blood levels of mercury and diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Kennedy Jr.  - intervju za  MSNBC - 22/5/2005: »Thimerosal is a preservative that was put in vaccines back in the 1930s.  Almost immediately after it was put in, autism cases began to appear.  Autism had never been known before.  It was unknown to science.  Then the vaccines were increased in 1989 by the CDC and by a couple of other government agencies...  We went up from receiving about 10 vaccines in our generation to these kids receive 24 vaccines.  And they all had this Thimerosal in them, this mercury.  And nobody bothered to do an analysis of what the cumulative impact of all that mercury was doing to kids. As it turns out, we are injecting our children with 400 times the amount of mercury that FDA or EPA considers safe.  A child on his first day that he is born is injected with a Hepatitis B shot.  Under EPA guidelines, he would have to be 275 pounds to safely absorb that shot...«

Boyd Haley Ph.D.: “You couldn´t even construct a study that shows thimerosal is safe. It`s just too dam toxic. If you inject thimerosal into an animal, its brain will sicken. If you apply it to living tissue, the cells die. If you put it in a petri dish, the cutlture dies. Knowing these things, it would be shocking if one could inject in into an infant without causing damage.”
